Pink Slime

Thanks Jon.

The problem, Rick Perry, is that taking something that is poisonous (“It usually refers to low-grade beef trimmings from connective tissue, spinal, rectal, and other intestinal material“) and making it not poisonous by treating it with a poison (ammonia gas) so that we can save some cash is precisely what is wrong with our food system, and our narrow minded short sighted thinking generally.

The goal is to get people eating better meat, meat that does not need to be treated because it contains poison. Whether or not something can be made nonpoisonous is so far beside the point that it hurts.

On the other hand Rick Perry thinks that it’s just fine.

Off topic, but I saw that eater.com named Birdhouse as the #3 most anticipated new restaurant in 2012. I know I can’t wait to try it!
